🔹BENEFIT: you should say, the shortest Sūrah in the Qur'ān - not, the smallest Sūrah...🔹

On the 29th/06/1440 AH, Sheikh Abū Muhammad Abdulhamīd Al-Zoukorī -may Allāh grant him success- said:

🔻🔹🔹🔹🔹🎙🔹🔹🔹🔹🔻

This question goes to you O Abdulkarēm. Do we say, the 'smallest' Sūrah in the Qur'ān, or the 'shortest'?

Student: Shortest (Aqsar).

Sheikh. Yes, shortest (Aqsar). It is more appropriate to say this than to say 'smallest' Sūrah.

So for example, you would say, the shortest Sūrah in the Qur'ān (Sūratul Ikhlās) equates to a third of the Qur'ān.

And the same applies to Hadeeth (prophetic narrations). Don't say, the smallest Hadeeth. You should rather say, one of the shortest Hadeeth is...and the Prophet ﷺ was given the ability to express comprehensive knowledge using very few words.

With that said, we believe that Allāh's speech yatafādhal (some speech is more virtuous and more excellent than others).
So, Sūratul Fātihah is the greatest Sūrah, Āyatul Kursī is the greatest Āyah, Sūratul Ikhlās equates to one third of the Qur'ān, etc.

And this preferential difference that exists in the Qur'ān indicates to the preferential difference in Allāh's names and attributes. And although some of the people of knowledge said there is no preferential difference in this regard, the evidences however, indicate otherwise, and Sheikhul Islam has given an extensive clarification of this fact in many of his works.

So, you should say Aqsar (shortest) - not Asghar (smallest)

▪️A doubt surrounding free-mixing/university▪️

Answered by Shaykh Abu Hamza Hassan bin Muhammed Ba Shuayb - may Allah preserve him-

📝🔹Question:

What's the response to the one who says:

“Free-mixing in the universities is permissible because it's the same as the mixing which takes place in markets, streets, transport systems, etc.

📩🔸Answer:

If this is what the Salaf understood from the texts, they would have (completely) prohibited free-mixing (outdoors) on the roads and on their travels just as they prohibited it in their own homes.

This is in fact a weak doubt.

There's a difference between one who knows for sure that he will be intermixing with women on an hourly, daily, monthly or yearly basis, voluntarily, and between one who is sometimes faced with this unexpectedly without him intending.

So reflect deeply over this.

And is it specific surahs where this takes place in for the imaam or is it general to all places prostrations are made?

The most correct opinion in this is; that there are fifteen places of prostration:

Some of these places of prostrations have been reported from the Prophet ﷺ and some others from the companions, and some of them have a consensus in regards to the prostration in it.

▪️How do I seek refuge for my kids?▪️

📝🔹Question:

Is it legislated to do ruqyah (islamically treat) on children twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening, or even once a day and if so then what should be read on them?

📩🔸Answer:

Seek refuge in Allah for them by saying:
("أعيذك بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّةِ مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْطَانٍ وَهَامَّةٍ، وَمِنْ كُلِّ عَيْنٍ لَامَّةٍ")
"I seek refuge for you in the perfect words of Allah, from every shaytaan (devil) and everything that is poisonous, and from every evil eye."

However this is not restricted to any specific time nor number (i.e the person may say it whenever they feel and should not restrict to saying it to a set number of times e.g: twice a day, once a day etc..)
